What is the difference between the CCP and the PRC?
The CCP is the political party; the PRC — the People's Republic of China — is the state itself. The CCP is the only party permitted to govern the PRC, so the two are closely bound, but the party and the country are not the same thing.
Why do some sources write CPC instead of CCP?
CPC stands for Communist Party of China, the party's own preferred English translation, used by Chinese state outlets and some international bodies. CCP, from Chinese Communist Party, is the older and far more common form in Western press. They refer to the same organisation.
