What is the difference between DLC and an expansion pack?
DLC is the umbrella term for anything added after launch, from a single costume to a whole new region. An expansion is a large DLC with substantial new story, areas and systems — historically sold on disc, and still priced closer to a full game.
Is DLC free?
It varies. Studios often release free DLC such as balance updates, maps or seasonal events to keep players active, while story expansions and cosmetic packs are usually paid. A season pass bundles several planned paid DLC releases at a discount.
