What does TTC mean in pregnancy forums?
"Trying to conceive". It signals that a couple is actively attempting pregnancy, and it usually appears alongside a count of how long, as in "TTC 14 months". Related shorthand includes TWW (two-week wait), BFP (big fat positive) and BFN (big fat negative).
What is the difference between TTC and IVF?
TTC just means trying for a baby, by any means including simply trying naturally. IVF is one specific medical treatment — in vitro fertilisation — that some people turn to after trying unsuccessfully. Someone can be TTC for years without ever using IVF.
How long is normal to be TTC?
Most couples conceive within a year of regular unprotected sex. Guidance in the UK and US is to seek medical advice after twelve months of trying, or after six months if the woman is over 35.
