From Ancient Greek ἀξιωμᾰτικός (axiōmătikós), meaning “employing logical propositions”, from ἀξίωμα (axíōma, “self-evident principle”) and -ικός (-ikós, “of or pertaining to, -ic”); equivalent to axiom plus -atic.
