From Ancient Greek ἀξιωμᾰτικός (axiōmătikós, “employing logical propositions”), from ἀξίωμα (axíōma, “self-evident principle”) + -ικός (-ikós, “of or pertaining to, -ic”), equivalent to axiom + -atic.
