Etymology
The name reached English through Latin Azrahel, itself from Ancient Greek Ἀζαραήλ (Azaraḗl), going back to Biblical Hebrew עֲזַרְאֵל (ʿăzarʾēl), possibly by way of Aramaic (compare Classical Syriac ܥܲܙܪܵܐܹܝܠ (ʿazrāʾēl)).
