Etymology

As a Chinese surname, Choi comes from a romanization of Cantonese 蔡 (coi³), and is a doublet of Tsai and Cai. As a Korean surname, it comes from a romanization of Korean 최(崔) (Choe), and is a doublet of Cui and Chui.
