Etymology
The name of Scottish kings and an early saint, coming from Scottish Gaelic Dòmhnall and reinforced by Medieval Latin Donvaldus (also Donaldus), from Old Irish Domnall, from Proto-Celtic *Dubnowalos ("prince / chief of the world"). It is a doublet of Domhnall.
