Etymology
Jujube reached Middle English by way of two related sources, a Medieval Latin term and its Old French counterpart, both believed to trace through Old Occitan to a Classical Latin name for the fruit that was itself adopted from Ancient Greek. The word has been recorded since the fourteenth century.
