What does euroshmup mean?
Semi-derogatory label for a shooter with inertia-based movement, health bars, weak default weapons and shop upgrades — design choices the arcade crowd sees as flaws.

Origin
Coined by shmup purists for European-developed shooters of the 80s–90s home-computer era (Amiga, C64, Spectrum), which broke from Japanese arcade design conventions.
