To French-kiss someone. 'Did you meet anyone?' at the end of a night out is not asking who you bumped into — it's asking who you got off with.

Origin
Regional Irish variant of 'shift', dominant in parts of the country (Cork, Munster especially) where 'shift' isn't the default. Same act, different word.
