What does unbased mean?
If 'based' is the highest compliment — confident, independent, doesn't care what you think — 'unbased' is the opposite. Cowardly, conformist, or holding an opinion the speaker finds embarrassing. Used semi-ironically on Reddit and 4chan, often as a one-word dismissal in the replies.
"Pineapple on pizza? Genuinely unbased take, unfollowing."
Origin
Derived from 'based' (popularised by rapper Lil B in the late 2000s, then mutated by 4chan/Reddit into a general-purpose compliment). 'Unbased' followed naturally as the negation.
