Etymology
Coined by Willibald Ruch and René T. Proyer, with help from Christian F. Hempelmann and Sean Harrigan, from Ancient Greek καταγελαστής (katagelastḗs, "mocker"). That word comes from καταγελάω (katageláō, "to laugh at, jeer at, laugh down"), formed from κατά (katá, "downwards") and γελάω (geláō, "to laugh").
