What is the difference between a shitcoin and an altcoin?
Altcoin is a neutral term for any cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin, and covers thousands of projects including serious ones. Shitcoin is an insult applied to coins the speaker considers worthless. Every shitcoin is an altcoin by definition, but very few altcoins would be described that way by their own holders.
Is a memecoin the same as a shitcoin?
Not necessarily. A memecoin is defined by its subject matter, being built around a joke or an internet reference, whereas shitcoin is a verdict on quality. Sceptics often apply both words to the same coin, but memecoin is descriptive and shitcoin is not.
Why do people use such a crude word?
