What is the difference between imu and imy?
None in meaning: imu is "I miss you" and imy is "I miss ya" or simply an alternative spelling of the same phrase. Imy is slightly more common in American messaging, imu elsewhere.
What does an IMU do in a drone or phone?
It measures acceleration and rotation on three axes, so the device knows which way it is pointing and how it is moving without any outside signal. That is why a phone can rotate the screen or count steps indoors where GPS fails.
Does an IMU include GPS?
No. An IMU works entirely from its own internal motion sensors, which is why its position estimate drifts over time. Navigation systems usually combine an IMU with GPS so each corrects the other.
