Etymology

The noun was borrowed from Russian агитпро́п (agitpróp, "agitprop"), Агитпро́п (Agitpróp, "Agitprop (Department for Agitation and Propaganda of the Soviet Union)"), a shortening of отде́л агитации и пропаганды (otdél agitacii i propagandy, "Department for Agitation and Propaganda"); it can also be analysed as a blend of agitation and propaganda. The verb was then formed from the noun.
