Etymology

Borrowed from Latin epocha or German Epoche, from Ancient Greek ἐποχή (epokhḗ); it is a doublet of epoch. The term was introduced by Husserl and other phenomenologists, though the concept also seems present in Aristotelian philosophy, as it did originate with Aristotle.
