Etymology

A learned borrowing from Latin Trōglodytae ("cave-dwelling people"), which came from Ancient Greek τρωγλοδύτης (trōglodútēs, "one who dwells in holes"), itself formed from τρώγλη (trṓglē, "hole") and δύω (dúō, "to get into").
