biff
What does biff mean?
A soldier signed off sick or on light duties — often used with a sneer suggesting they're swinging the lead. A 'biff chit' is the medical note that gets you out of PT or stagging on. Calling someone a biff is calling them a malingerer.
"He's been a biff for three weeks with a 'dodgy knee' — funny how it doesn't stop him in the gym."
Origin
British Army slang, mid-20th century. Possibly linked to 'biffer' (someone unfit or weak).
