The police. Standard Scouse shorthand — older than half the force itself. Used the way Londoners say 'old bill' or Americans say 'cops'.

Origin
From 'busy' / 'busybodies' — Scousers reckoned the coppers were always sticking their noses in. Recorded in Liverpool slang from the early 20th century.
