edge-hogging
What does edge-hogging mean?
Instead of attacking the recovering player, you just snatch the ledge first. Since only one fighter can hold it, their tether or sweet-spot recovery has nowhere to grab and they fall to their death. Cheap, clean, effective.
"No need to risk a hit, just edge-hog and watch him plummet."
Origin
Super Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl, where ledge grabs were exclusive (one occupant at a time).
Frequently asked questions
Does edge-hogging still work in Ultimate?
Not really. Ultimate changed ledge mechanics so a fresh grab bumps off whoever's hanging, which killed classic edge-hogging.
