Birmingham has more miles of canal than Venice, and locals call them the cut. "Up the cut" means up along the canal — for a walk, a pint at the lock-side pub, or to dump a shopping trolley if you're feeling antisocial.

Highly agitated, worked up, hyper. Doh as in the top note of the scale — you're pitched right up there, can't come back down. Used for stress, excitement or both at once.
