Conditions of very poor visibility caused by heavy snowfall, wind, or fog, where the rider can barely see the terrain ahead. Whiteouts make riding disorienting and dangerous.

Streetwise and on the ball — the opposite of a sap. Someone who's wide spots the wind-up coming, knows the angle, and isn't getting done. Often paired with 'cute' as in 'cute and wide' — a uniquely Irish compliment-slash-warning about a person who knows exactly what they're at.

A smart-arse, a chancer, somebody who fancies themselves and lets you know it. Usually the boy in the pub looking for a square go he can't actually win. From 'wide' = sly/streetwise.
