It is cognate with Dutch stekel, Icelandic stikill, and Gothic ?????? (stikls) (which in turn gave Russian стекло́ (stekló, "glass"), Polish szkło ("glass"), Lithuanian sti̇̀klas, and Romanian sticlă).
