sybaritic
Sybaritic (adj) means Devoted to luxury, comfort and pleasure, often to excess.
Etymology
A learned borrowing made up of Latin Sybarīticus ("of or pertaining to Sybaris or its inhabitants") and English -ic (suffix meaning "of or pertaining to", forming adjectives from nouns). Sybarīticus itself derives from Ancient Greek Συβαρῑτικός (Subarītikós), from Σῠβᾰρῑ́της (Sŭbărī́tēs, "(noun) inhabitant of Sybaris; (adjective) decadent; self-indulgent") — itself from Σῠ́βᾰρῐς (Sŭ́bărĭs, "Sybaris") plus -ῑ́της (-ī́tēs, suffix forming demonyms) — plus -κός (-kós, suffix meaning "of or pertaining to", forming adjectives). The English word can also be analysed as Sybarite ("inhabitant of Sybaris") plus -ic. Sybaris was a city of Magna Graecia (the coastal parts of Sicily and southern Italy once colonised by Greek settlers), known for its wealth and for the excesses and hedonism of its inhabitants.
