To publicly expose a pseudonymous person's real identity or personal details; a 'doxxed' team has publicly known founders, seen as more trustworthy.

A fool, an idiot, someone with the lights on but nobody home. Affectionate when aimed at a mate, properly cutting when aimed at a stranger. Newcastle/North-East staple.

dp (dragon punch)

A rising uppercut, usually with invincibility on start-up, done on the dragon-punch motion. It blows up jump-ins and works as a wake-up reversal — but whiff it and you're wide open for a punish.

drac

Street

Used as a generic stand-in for a powerful gun in rap, regardless of the actual model.

draco

Street

A short-barrelled AK-pattern pistol manufactured by Cugir in Romania, officially the Mini-Draco. In Southern trap it's the flex gun — compact, vicious, and instantly recognisable from album covers and music videos. Future, 21 Savage, Lil Durk and basically every Atlanta rapper has name-checked one.

The phase before the match where teams take turns picking champions and banning ones they don't want to face. Games can be won or lost here before anyone even spawns.

Drafting season is the run-up to cuffing season, when singles assess and shortlist potential partners to pair up with for the colder months.

To publicly tear into someone — pile on receipts, screenshots and one-liners until they're cooked. Sharper and more personal than a normal roast; the audience is part of the punishment.

drag mother

Your guide into the art. A drag mother is a seasoned queen who takes a newer performer under her wing, teaching makeup, performance and survival, and often passing down a shared drag surname. The newcomer is the drag daughter; together they're a drag family. Echoes the 'house mother' structure of ballroom culture.

drag up

General

To walk off a job for good — collect your tools, get your final check, gone. Heavy in union ironwork, pipefitting, and boilermaker circles. A 'drag-up check' is the cheque you get when you quit (or get run off). Not a layoff, not a firing — you're choosing to leave.

One of the two big stylistic lanes in vogue femme (the other being soft). Dramatics is the high-octane mode: speed, stunts, tricks, hard dips, the whole thing cranked to theatrical. It's about shock and impact, leaving the room gasping. Where soft is graceful flow, dramatics is a fight scene.

draped up and dripped out

Fully decked: diamonds on the neck (draped up) and a glossy candy-paint Cadillac under you (dripped out). The Houston version of stunting — the car and the chain count as one outfit. Bun B's 2005 single 'Draped Up' is the canonical reference.

UK drill for stabbed, with the grim implication of being soaked through with blood. Part of the wet/water family of drill stab metaphors alongside wetting and splashed.

dressed

Street

The one-word NOLA shorthand for the full po-boy treatment: lettuce, tomato, pickles and mayo on top of whatever meat or seafood you ordered. Counter staff will ask 'dressed or undressed?' and if you hesitate you've outed yourself as a tourist.

drid

General

A regional NYC term for being aggravated or sick of something.

drill

Music

The rap subgenre itself — sparse, sinister beats with sliding 808 basslines, hi-hat triplets, and flat, threatening vocals. Born in Chicago around 2011, mutated hard in South London.

driller

Street

An active gang member or shooter — somebody who actually drills, i.e. puts in the violent work the music is talking about. In NYC drill this is the heaviest sense.

drillin'

Street

Actively hunting opps — riding through rival territory looking to shoot. The verb form the whole subgenre takes its name from. Not metaphor; the rappers using it usually mean it.

drilling

Street

Actively aggressing on rivals — sliding through opp territory, shooting, putting in the violent work the genre is named after. This is the sense the music, and the indictments, are built on.

drink the kool-aid

General

To accept a belief, ideology, or company line without questioning it, sometimes to the point of losing objectivity.

drip

Cool, fashionable clothing or an impressive outfit.

dripped out

Pop

Dressed to the maximum in fly, high-end gear; every part of the fit is on point. The 'out' intensifies 'drip' to mean completely styled.

drive

What you call the person behind the wheel of a bus or taxi in South Wales (and across the Severn into the West Country). Not their name, not 'mate', not 'boss' — just 'drive'. Saying 'Cheers, drive!' as you hop off the bus is basically civic duty from Swansea to Cardiff and up into the Valleys.

An offensive concept of driving to collapse the defense and kicking the ball out to open perimeter shooters.

To keep going and complete the task despite difficulty, pain, or setbacks.

drive-thru

The drive-thru is the order-from-your-car lane at a fast-food joint, coffee shop, or pharmacy. Inside the building it's shorthand — Starbucks baristas write 'DT' on the schedule for drive-thru bar, 'DTO' for drive-thru order-taker, 'DTR' for register. Headset chatter is constant; it's the highest-volume, highest-pressure position on most shifts.

drizzle

General

Caramel, mocha or similar sauce squeezed in thin lines across the whipped cream of a finished drink. Pure cosmetic upsell — adds nothing to the flavour you can really taste but makes the drink look photogenic. Customers ask for 'extra drizzle' constantly.

drone

Gaming

A small remote vehicle you drive around to scout the objective, find defenders and mark traps before your team commits. In Siege every attacker starts with two. Drone first, push second - or push blind and die.

droog

General

By extension, a member of a loyal crew or pack who roams and causes trouble together, with the loyalty more tribal than tender.

drookit

General

Thoroughly soaked or drenched, usually from rain.
