Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a target audience and a target market?
A target market is the whole group of potential buyers a business sells to. A target audience is the narrower slice a particular message or advert speaks to, and it may include people who influence the purchase rather than make it, such as parents for a children's toy.
How do you define your target audience?
Start with who already buys or engages, then describe them by age, location, income, job, interests and, most usefully, the problem they are trying to solve. Keep it narrow enough that you could name a real person who fits.
