uniformity
Uniformity (noun) means the state of being the same throughout, without variation.
Etymology
The word comes from Late Middle English uniformite, uniformitie ("conformity or equality among several parts; similar degree"), which was borrowed from Old French uniformité ("uniformity"; modern French uniformité), or came directly from its source Late Latin ūniformitās, from Latin ūnifōrmis ("having only one form or shape, uniform") plus -itās (a variant of -tās, a suffix forming feminine abstract nouns denoting a state of being). Ūnifōrmis in turn derives from ūni- ("one", ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *h₁óynos, "one") plus -fōrmis ("having the form of", from fōrma, "appearance, form, shape", of unknown further origin). On the surface, it can also be analysed as uniform plus -ity.
