To walk up and down a longboard by crossing one foot over the other in a smooth, dance-like motion, rather than shuffling.
cross-up
Gaming
You jump over the opponent and hit them on the way down so the attack lands on their back. Now they have to block the other direction — and if their brain's still pointed forward, they eat it.

Problems, hardships or bad luck that one has to bear.
crossfire
Gaming
You set up so an enemy can only ever face one of you at a time. They peek your mate, you tag them from the side. No safe cover, no clean trade for them.

A dribbling move where the ball is quickly switched from one hand to the other to change direction and get past a defender.
crossplay

The practice of dressing as a character whose gender differs from the cosplayer's, often using techniques such as chest binding, padding, or prosthetics to sell the look.

To take a post from one subreddit and share it into another while keeping a link back to the original. The point is to spread something good without ripping off the OP — credit stays attached automatically.

A low, swaying dash that closes distance smoothly and feeds into a character's launchers and mids. String them together and you get a wavedash.

The eagle on a Navy petty officer's rank insignia. When a sailor makes E-4 and pins on PO3, they've 'got their crow' or 'made crow.' Lose your rate at captain's mast and you 'lost your crow.' The bird is the whole identity of being a petty officer.

Light shorthand for a forgetful patient; a polite gloss of a cruder original.

Serious, great, or of high importance; a term of strong approval.

To take a rapid turn for the worse; a patient who seemed stable whose vital signs suddenly collapse.

To decline suddenly and acutely; a crumping patient is crashing and needs immediate attention. Also 'crump.'

An armor-crew term for dismounted infantry, grimly evoking what happens to a foot soldier who gets in the way of a tracked vehicle.

Names a subgenre of Southern hip-hop built on shouted hooks and heavy 808s, pioneered by Lil Jon.

To have romantic feelings or infatuation for someone.
crusty

Describing something or someone unclean, ashy, or generally busted-looking.
crutch

A small rolled piece of card or a glass tip placed at the mouth end of a joint to keep it open, catch debris and let you smoke it to the end. Also called a tip or filter.

A skill move where a player fakes a pass or cross, then drags the ball behind their standing leg to spin away from a defender.

crypto twitter

The dense network of crypto and NFT accounts on Twitter/X (abbreviated CT) where memes, alpha, drama and narratives originate and spread.
cryptobro

A male crypto enthusiast — usually loud, usually dogmatic, usually evangelising about a specific coin to anyone who didn't ask. Carries strong connotations of overconfidence, dismissiveness toward critics, and a Lamborghini-shaped vision board. Almost always pejorative when used by outsiders, sometimes worn ironically by insiders.

Your total last-hit count. It's the cleanest read on how well someone's farming — high CS means a fed gold lead even without kills. Pros are judged on CS per minute.

The clear fluid that cushions the brain and spinal cord, sampled by lumbar puncture to diagnose infection or bleeding.

Short for 'Crypto Twitter', the sprawling community of traders, builders and commentators on X where much crypto discourse, alpha and drama unfolds.

Stands for "call to action," a marketing prompt urging the audience to take a specific step.

Hospital shorthand for a patient who's actively dying despite everything, or already gone in everything but name. Stands for 'Circling The Drain' (or, more bluntly, 'Certain To Die'). Said quietly at handover, never written in the notes.

A younger, often smaller version of a bear — usually furry and stocky but earlier in the journey. Frequently paired with an older 'daddy' or full-grown bear. The little brother of the bear family tree.
