An accessory placed between the nail and the dab rig to catch leftover concentrate that drips down after a dab, keeping the rig cleaner.
recomp
General
Body recomposition — simultaneously decreasing fat mass and increasing muscle rather than bulking and cutting separately.
red and white
General
Describing a Sunderland supporter, after the club's red-and-white strip.
red buff
Gaming
The Crest of Cinders, dropped by last-hitting the Red Brambleback. Your autoattacks slow the target and apply true damage over time, great for chasing and dueling. Usually just called 'red'.
red eye
General
A cup of drip coffee fortified with a single shot of espresso. Named after the overnight "red-eye" flight it was built to survive. Add another shot and you've got a black eye; add a third for a dead eye. Some shops call it a "shot in the dark."
red flag
Internet
A behaviour or trait, especially in dating, that signals someone could be trouble or unhealthy to be around.
red flag energy
Internet
The general impression that a person exhibits concerning or unhealthy relationship traits.

red zone
General
The area of the field between the opponent's 20-yard line and the goal line, where scoring chances are high.
redbands

A hugely popular brand of lightweight farm gumboots, so common the name is used generically.
redd
General
To tidy or clear away; 'redd up' means clean up or set to rights.
reddit gold
Internet
Reddit's flagship premium award. Other users could spend real money to gift it to your comment, which gave you a month of ad-free Reddit and a little gold star next to your post. For years it was the platform's main 'this comment slaps' signal — far weightier than an upvote.
reddit hug of death
Internet
The phenomenon where a small server gets so much sudden traffic from a popular Reddit post that it falls over and serves errors. Affectionate framing — Reddit loves you so much it kills you.
reddit switcharoo
Internet
The classic Reddit gag where a commenter posts a misdirection link — usually phrased 'hold my X' — that takes you to a previous switcharoo comment, which links to the one before it, and so on. Click and you're falling down a chain stretching back years.
redpilled
Internet
From The Matrix: Neo swallows the red pill and sees reality as it really is. Online, being 'redpilled' means waking up to some supposedly suppressed truth — originally about dating dynamics on Reddit's r/TheRedPill, now applied to politics, diet, finance, anything. Sincere in some corners, deeply ironic in others.
reds
General
A friendly form of address or nickname for a person of light or reddish complexion. Also 'red-skin'.
reeb
General
Used loosely for ale or any cheap pub drink bought with the day's takings.
reef break
General
A surf spot where waves break over a rock or coral reef, typically producing powerful, hollow and hazardous waves.
reefer
General
A temperature-controlled trailer with its own diesel-powered fridge unit bolted to the nose. Hauls everything from ice cream to pharmaceuticals. Pays better than dry van because the equipment costs more and the loads are time-sensitive — but the reefer unit chugging away all night is the soundtrack of every truck stop.
reekin
General
Smoking or giving off smoke/steam; figuratively, stinking, or blind drunk.
reet
General
Northern pronunciation of 'right' used as an intensifier — 'very', 'proper'. If something's reet good, it's seriously good.
refeed
General
A deliberately higher-carbohydrate day during a cut, used to top up muscle glycogen and give a diet break.
refire
General
Drop the same dish a second time, usually at full speed, because the first one came back, came up wrong, or died on the pass. Refires jump the queue — the table's already waiting, so the line stops what it's doing and gets it out. Nobody likes calling a refire. The cook who caused it likes it least.
refrag
Gaming
Your mate dies on the peek, but you're right behind them and instantly drop the enemy who got the kill. You traded one for one and held the space, which is a win even though you lost a body.
reggae
General
Ticket shorthand meaning the dish goes out exactly as written — standard build, default sides, no allergy swaps, no 'dressing on the side.' A relief call on a busy line because reggae tickets don't need a second read.
reggie

Poor-quality cannabis: dry, brown, harsh and cheap.
rego
General
The registration of a motor vehicle, or the fee/label for it.

regulated

Being in a calm, balanced emotional and physiological state, especially after managing stress.

rejection
General
When a defender blocks an opponent's shot attempt, 'rejecting' it.
rekt
Internet
Slang for being financially destroyed on a trade, usually via a liquidated leveraged position or a token going to zero. A deliberate misspelling of 'wrecked' borrowed from gaming.
relajo
General
A commotion, mess, or disorderly situation (milder than 'desmadre').
relevant username
Internet
A short reply — sometimes the whole comment — calling attention to a username that, by pure chance, suits the topic being discussed. Cousin of 'username checks out,' but used more for coincidence than for the joke writing itself.
reload
Music
By extension, any moment so good you want it again immediately.
relou

Used for an annoying situation or chore, not just a person.
remontada

A dramatic turnaround where a team overturns a significant deficit to win, especially over two legs.
