A grifter is a criminal who makes a living through confidence tricks, swindles, and scams rather than violence. A grifter might be a card cheat, con man, or crooked salesman.

A grift is a con or swindle, and 'the grift' collectively refers to the con artist's trade. As a verb, to grift is to cheat someone out of money by trickery.

Used loosely for any annoying troll behavior that wrecks someone's experience.

The football field, or American football itself, named for the crosshatched pattern of yard lines that once resembled a cooking grid.

The green, unlit cannabis on the surface of a freshly packed bowl, and by extension the prized first hit of it.

A corporate raider tactic: accumulate a threatening block of a company's shares, rattle the board with the prospect of a hostile takeover, then agree to go away in exchange for the company buying the stake back at a fat premium. The target's other shareholders get diluted while the raider walks off with a quick payday. Heyday was the 1980s; later largely killed off by tax and securities reforms.

Flexible metal conduit (FMC) — empty spiralled aluminium or steel tubing you fish wires through, used where rigid pipe can't go: short drops to motors, retrofit runs through stud bays, anywhere vibration would crack EMT. Named for inventor Harry Greenfield, but the word is generic in the trade now.
