Used to describe ostentatious dressing in general.

An enclosed yard, garden or small paddock.

The bank. An elastic band worn high on the thigh, customers tuck dollar bills into it during dances and stage sets. Keeps the cash visible (proof of a good night), keeps her hands free, and gives the customer a reason to get close without breaking the no-touch rule.

A service member who excels at garrison spit-and-polish but performs poorly in field conditions — too far forward to draw combat pay, too far back to fight.

When weights and equipment are strewn everywhere, as if someone dumped out a garage sale, usually because people didn't rack their stuff.

An ambulance (or fire apparatus) that's constantly out of service for repairs. You see the rig more often on jacks than on a run. Crews dread getting assigned to it because half your shift is paperwork explaining why you're down.

Fandom slang describing a male character who is intensely, admirably masculine, tough and cool — so much so that even straight men find them awesome. Sometimes used as a noun for that quality.

A clueless or out-of-place novice on the mountain, often stereotyped by mismatched gear or a 'gaper gap' of forehead showing between goggles and helmet. It is a light-hearted jibe.

gap moe-adjacent

Describes a character beat close to gap moe — deriving appeal from a mild contrast with the character's usual demeanour, even if not a full personality reversal.

The specific appeal a character gains by unexpectedly showing a side that contradicts their established personality — like a tough delinquent who secretly loves knitting. The charm lives in the gap between expectation and reality.

To take off, run away or leave in a hurry.

To use a dash, blink, leap or movement speed to close the gap onto an enemy so you can actually hit them. Melee carries live and die on this.

A residential lane or byway; many Barbadian addresses are named 'Something Gap'.

A jumper or pullover. The word your nan uses when she's telling you to put one on because it's parky out. From the Channel Island of Guernsey via centuries of dialect drift.

A jumper, sweater or pullover; also 'gansey'.

Craving or desperate for something ('gantin for a pint'); can also mean filthy/disgusting.
