crescent city connection

The pair of cantilever bridges hauling US 90 Business across the Mississippi from downtown New Orleans over to Algiers and the rest of the West Bank. Old-timers still call it the Greater New Orleans Bridge or just 'the GNO'; it was officially rechristened the Crescent City Connection in 1989 when the second span opened. Toll booths came down in 2013 and good luck finding a local who misses them.

Crenshaw Boulevard — the long South LA strip running through the Crenshaw District. Cultural spine for Black LA, lowrider Sunday cruising lane, and forever tied to Nipsey Hussle and the Marathon Clothing store on Crenshaw & Slauson.

The tan-coloured foam that crowns a properly pulled espresso shot — emulsified oils and CO2 forced out of the beans by the pressure. Thick stable crema = fresh beans and a clean pull. No crema = stale beans or a botched extraction. Baristas read it like tea leaves.

creep equilibrium

Where opposing creep waves meet and grind each other down. Control the equilibrium and you control the lane. Pull it toward your tower for safe farming, or shove it into theirs to deny.

AI-controlled units in a MOBA. Lane creeps march down the lanes in waves; neutral creeps sit in the jungle waiting to be cleared. Killing them feeds you gold and experience. The bread and butter of farming.

A small shed or hut, typically a pigeon loft.

An exploit that jumps the game straight to the end credits, skipping most or all of the actual game. Often the endpoint of an ACE setup.

Continuing over and over to muscle through to the end rather than clearing on a single credit. Gets you the ending, earns you no respect from the score crowd.

The ability to beat a defender off the dribble and generate a quality shot unassisted.

A compound (usually creatine monohydrate) supplemented to boost strength, power and muscle volume; one of the most researched sports supplements and does not affect natty status.

To laugh uncontrollably — the kind where you're literally folded/creased in half. Almost always used as 'creasing' or 'I'm creasing'. The British MLE equivalent of 'I'm dead' or 'I'm crying'.

cream-crackered

Exhausted. Wiped out. The kind of tired where you can feel your eyelids. Polite Cockney workaround when you don't want to say 'knackered' in front of nan.

Slang for money, famous from the acronym C.R.E.A.M.

A derisive term for crude technical analysis — the joke being that WSB apes, too smooth-brained for real charts, 'eat crayons' and scribble lines like children.

Excessively greedy, especially for food or material things; grasping and covetous.

As a verb (to crash out), to recklessly act on anger without thinking, often ruining a situation.

crashing the boards

Aggressively pursuing rebounds by driving toward the basket as a shot goes up. Also 'crashing the glass.'

Slang for a family member or bystander who passes out in the emergency department, often at the sight of blood or a procedure.

Describes a person prone to volatile, reckless reactions — a 'crashout.'

A mobile cart stocked with drugs, a defibrillator, and equipment for responding to a cardiac arrest or other emergency.
