Oakland-flavoured way to call something corny, weak, or beneath the standard. If a move's bootsy, it's the kind of thing nobody respectable would pull.

A ballroom-and-drag intensifier that turbocharges whatever comes before it. Tack 'boots' onto an adjective and you mean it to the maximum — 'sickening boots' is sickening at the highest possible level. Lives in the same family as 'the house down.'

A Royal Marine. Worn with full pride by the Marines themselves and used by the rest of the British forces — particularly the Navy they serve alongside — with the usual mix of respect and ribbing. If you call a Royal Marine a bootneck you'd better mean it the right way.

An offensive play in which the quarterback fakes a handoff, hides the ball on his hip, and rolls out in the opposite direction to run or pass.

An intense in-person practice block where a pro team trains together in one place for days or weeks ahead of an event. Scrims all day, reviews all night.

US Marine Corps and Navy term for someone who's just graduated boot camp. The shine isn't off them yet — fresh haircut, fresh uniform, no experience, no stories. Used by everyone senior, which in the fleet means everyone. By extension, anyone new to a unit, posting or job is 'a boot' until they've earned otherwise.

A booster is a shoplifter, one who steals merchandise from stores, often concealing it in special clothing or 'booster bags.'

Describes a player sitting at a rank above their real skill, usually because someone better dragged them there, duo-queued them up, or straight-up played on their account. A favourite insult for anyone playing badly at a high rank.

Crouch under a teammate and they can stand on your head, gaining height for an angle or a peek nobody expects. A boost opens off-angles, lets an AWP see over cover, or sneaks a player onto a perch the enemy never checks.

Overwatch slang for a knockback ability, like Lucio's Soundwave or Pharah's Concussive Blast. The dream is booping someone clean off the map for a free environmental kill.

boonoonoonoos wine

'Running belly' is Patois for diarrhoea / an upset stomach.

Wonderful, lovely or precious; often used for a beloved person ('mi boonoonoonoos').

Wild, remote, or isolated country far from civilization; often shortened to 'boonies.' 'Boondockers' are the field boots worn there.

A World of Warcraft Balance druid, who casts ranged spells while shapeshifted into Moonkin Form. The spec hurls Starfire and Wrath from a distance. 'Boomkin' is the affectionate nickname for the build and the player who runs it.

boomerang employee

An employee who resigns from a company and is rehired by the same company at a later date. Boomerang employees became common in the early 2020s as workers who left found new jobs disappointing.

A boomer stock is a mature, stable, dividend-paying company unlikely to post explosive single-day gains, appealing to conservative, longer-term investors. WallStreetBets uses the term dismissively toward 'safe' names.

boomer (30-year-old)

Not an actual baby boomer. A specific meme caricature: the millennial who's barely 30 but already behaves like he's pulling up the ladder — same five franchises, same beer, same opinions, ages himself in dog years. The label later broadened to any millennial accused of being prematurely cringe or out of touch with Gen Z.

In chat: a wojak of a balding, beer-gut millennial in a polo, longing for the late '90s — the '30-Year-Old Boomer' template. Used to mock anyone clinging to outdated tech, music or takes regardless of their actual age.

A large, portable, battery-powered stereo with speakers, central to 80s street and hip-hop culture.

Just chilling, hanging out, doing nothing in particular. The B-for-C swap is the whole point; using it casually is a tip of the cap (intended or not) to Blood-coded speech.

Suspicious or sketchy. A vibe, a person, a situation that's giving you a bad feeling without you being able to name why. London road word — if something's booky, you don't stick around to find out.
