Subspace is the altered headspace a submissive can drop into during play — floaty, fuzzy, 'like mush,' time going strange. It's driven by the body dumping endorphins and adrenaline under stress and sensation, and researchers compare it to hypnosis, deep meditation, or a runner's high. Someone deep in subspace may have a jacked-up pain tolerance, struggle to talk, and lose track of where they are — which is exactly why the top stays watching and aftercare matters. The flip side comes later as sub drop.

Distinguished by the total lack of acknowledgment, the person dives back up like a submarine breaking the surface.

It's an active choice, not passivity: submitting is something you do, and a good sub holds real power in setting the terms. Distinct from Bottom, which is the physical receiving role; you can be one without the other. Short for submissive.

In the ballroom world of Paris Is Burning, stunting means tricking or swindling, used in the film for shoplifting clothes or skipping out on a restaurant bill. For kids with nothing, it was a survival hustle and a way to get the fierce looks the floor demanded. The clothes you stunted for could be the clothes you walked in. Not glamorous, just real, a way to eat and to compete when the legit route was closed off.

To put on a flashy display of confidence or success.

Often summarised as 'Black butch,' but it's not interchangeable with butch — stud is a racially specific identity created by Black lesbians to name an experience and a set of gender roles developed within Black community, and to push back against the male gaze rather than imitate it. The term is documented as far back as a 1965 sociological study and entered the lexicon via AAVE.

A grievance or remark that bothers you and won't go away, like food lodged in a bird's crop.

In Apex, landing an Arc Star (or similar stick grenade) straight onto an enemy so it clings to them and goes off. No escape, no cover, just an instant problem.
