NFPA 1407 requires one on the scene of every structure fire. FAST is the FDNY/New York name; RIC (or RIT, Rapid Intervention Team) is the term used pretty much everywhere else. Same job, different patch.

Ground-pounder slang for a fast jet — F-16s, F/A-18s, anything that screams in low and fast for close air support. Born in Vietnam when grunts on the ground needed a quick way to distinguish jets from the slow movers (props) and helos overhead.

An offensive tactic to advance the ball and score as quickly as possible before the defense is organized.
