denying the ball

A defensive tactic of getting between an opponent and the ball to prevent them catching a pass.

A Dota thing. When your own creep drops below half health, you can last hit it yourself - denying the enemy the gold and cutting the XP they'd get. You're not just farming, you're starving them. Tower about to die? Deny it too.

Late-night hours when people get up to wild, reckless, or aggressive behaviour. In drill/rap it signals menacing energy on a track.

delusional confidence

Confidence so strong that it appears unrealistic or unsupported by the facts.

Slang for the deltoids, the shoulder muscles with front, side and rear heads.

The gap or change between two figures or states.

A Welsh word used to address someone fondly, especially in North Wales, roughly equal to 'love' or 'pet'.

A short word of approval for something or someone that looks good or is up to standard.

Literally 'here', often used to answer how you are — meaning 'I'm here, getting by'. Also 'deh'ya'.

To be engaged in or focused on something ('mi deh pon it' = I'm on it/doing it).

A copula/locative meaning 'to be' or 'to be there'; 'mi deh yah' = I'm here; 'dem deh' = they are there.

Feeling drained, weak, or exhausted — no energy left. From the soft, floppy 'guabina' fish.
