Thread sealant — a paste smeared on the male threads of a pipe fitting before you screw it together, so the joint doesn't leak. Different formulations for water, gas, oil, or chemical lines. The alternative is PTFE (Teflon) tape; old hands argue dope vs. tape like it's religion.

In most FX pairs, one pip is 0.0001 — the fourth decimal. For yen pairs it's the second decimal. It's the unit traders count P&L in: 'up 30 pips today' beats trying to say '0.0030 of EURUSD'.

To squeeze the seat between your thighs to keep the bike controlled, often during a barspin or when both hands leave the bars. It keeps the bike from getting away from you.

A player substituted into the lineup to bat in place of a scheduled hitter, often in a key spot.

You squeeze a squad between two angles. They can't watch both, so whichever way they turn, someone's hitting their back. Classic vice grip.

A street fight or brawl; literally 'pineapple'. 'Se formó una piña' = a fight broke out.
