Drill twist on the dictionary word. Calling someone diligent in this scene means they're active — they put in work, they're reliable when it kicks off, they don't duck the smoke. Same family as 'active' or 'hot stepper'. High praise, not corporate fluff.

Diagonal cutting pliers — short, angled jaws designed for cutting wire flush. Universal in electrical, low-voltage, and general construction work. 'Pass me the dikes' on any jobsite gets you a pair of Kleins, no questions asked.

Theatre nickname for stripping out varicose veins, because the bulging blue cords look exactly like earthworms once the leg's open and the surgeon's hooking them up. Said with the same affection a gardener has for compost.

An encouraging phrase, often shouted by a spotter or training partner, urging someone to summon extra effort to finish a lift.

A catch-all jab assigning blame in team games.

The practice of moving a prisoner from institution to institution for days or weeks, shackled on buses, often as unofficial punishment or to disrupt them.

Describes a physique that has hit its optimal, competition-ready look, everything peaking on point. Also written 'dialed-in'.

Describes a trick a rider can land consistently and cleanly, or a bike tuned to perfection. Being dialed means it is reliable and just right.

A soft Puerto Rican exclamation of surprise, a euphemistic stand-in for 'diablo'.

di (directional influence)

When you get launched, holding the control stick perpendicular to your knockback curves your trajectory. Good DI is the difference between dying at 90% and living to 140%, it's the most important defensive skill in Smash and you can't see it on the surface.

Laundry. Your washing, the act of doing it, or the place it happens. Still in active use in the Navy and Marines — 'dhobi day' is wash day.

Shorthand for a patient who fell — either literally 'done fell out' (of bed/chair) or 'drunk and fell over.'
